Two Things To Check On Your Sewing Machine Before Taking It To A Shop

So, the one problem I have had with my sewing machine intermittently has been the bobbin thread knotting up. You are sewing along a straight seam and all of a sudden your bobbin is knotting and you cannot continue sewing.

I have found that there are two reasons this happens:

  1. The thread gets unwound from the track especially up at the top of the sewing machine. I have decided when I pull material in and out of the sewing machine sometimes I hit the thread guide and then the machine is no longer threaded properly. Now with the internet, you can Youtube a video for your specific sewing machine and be sure your machine is threaded correctly.
  1. When threading your bobbin, be sure the thread is evenly threaded on the bobbin. So if the bobbin has threaded in a way that the thread does not unthread evenly, it will put knots in your bobbin. But you can buy your bobbins already threaded now…which alleviates the problem. Because it seems as machines get older, the uneven bobbin threading becomes an issue. Thus it can be repaired for a minimum charge or you can buy the pre-threaded bobbins.

I hope this information has been helpful and saves you a trip to the sewing machine repair shop. If you have any questions or comments please let me know.
