Sew An Easy Child’s Apron

child's apron

With the holidays almost here, an apron for your little one is just the thing. A nice practical apron to keep those nice clothes clean and covered. Especially while making cookies and crafts. The pattern is so fun and simple you will have it put together in less than an hour.

Items needed:

  1. Kitchen Towel
  2. ⅝” x 9yds Ribbon
  3. Thread
  4. Sewing Scissors
  5. Medium Size Safety Pins
  6. Iron
  7. Ironing Board

Cutting the pattern:

  1. Fold the kitchen towel length wise.
  2. Cut straight down from the top of the towel and curve to the raw edge side to make an arm hole.
  3. Open the towel and press the creases out with an iron.

Putting the apron together:

  1. Fold the raw edge of the arm hole in ¼” on each side and iron down to make it easier to hold while you sew.
  2. Sew the ¼ ” down.
  3. Now Fold the straight top edge down 1″ and sew near the bottom edge to make a casing for the ⅝” ribbon.
  4. Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to feed through the casing at the top of the apron and have enough length to be tied around the neck.
  5. Now take the medium safety pin and fasten it to one end of the ribbon.
  6. Then feed the safety pin through the casing all the way to the other side. Pull the ribbon through leaving half of the ribbon on one side and half on the other so you can tie it around your neck.
  7. Now Cut the same size ribbon to sew on the side at the bottom of the arm hole. This will give you a ribbon to secure around the waist.

There you have a child size apron ready to wear! Now you are ready to start baking or crafting.
