Mending Is A Form Of Sewing

When having rips and tears in clothing…mending those tears is a great sewing project.

What you need to mend a garment:

  1. Thread to match garment
  2. Bobbin to match
  3. Pins

The first garment to mend is a pair of workout pants. The tear is in the seam of the pants so mending should be easy.

Steps to mend tear in pants seam:

  1. Turn pants wrong side out
  2. Locate the tear
  3. Pin the seam
  4. Sew along the seam being sure to close the hole
  5. remove the pins while you sew.
  6. Be sure and back sew on each end
  7. Turn pants right-side out
  8. Check for hole in seam

The work out pants are now hole free and ready to wear.

The next project is a jacket that the zipper is coming out and the pocket is coming off.

  1. Next you pin the zipper on both sides of the zipper
  2. Additionally, the pocket has to be pinned to zipper too to close up the hole in the pocket.
  3. Also, pin the pocket across the front of the jacket to the opening.
  4. Begin sewing along the zipper.
  5. Continue sewing until you sew past the spot where the zipper was coming off and back stitch.
  6. Then rotate the jacket and sew the front of the pocket to the jacket.
