Sewing a Bible cover is a fun project and great to give to a teen. I used to sew these as a teenager to have a unique Bible at the Bible Study. And it gives a denim durable outer cover to a paperback.
Items needed:
Paperback Pocket Bible
Old Jean Material (I’m sure there are some in your closet)
Thread
Scissors
Cutting out your pattern:
You start with the leg of a pair of jeans and cut it down the inseam.
Now then this gives you a nice big piece of material to work with.
Place the finished seam on the binder of the Bible. Then cut out around the Bible leaving 1/2″ seam more on each side.
Now on each end of the binder make a slit so that you can fold the material down onto the Bible cover page on each side.
You will be stitching the denim to the paper cover.
Instructions on sewing:
Sew the denim to the cover around the edges.
Then the finished seam will be sticking up past the Bible. You can either cut it off flush with the cover or leave it.
Next with extra seamed material you can cut two pieces and form a cross on the front cover. Just stitch it through the denim and paper page.
You are finished and have a really cute durable cover for your pocket Bible.
This pattern can be used on a bigger paperback Bible but you will probably need to glue the denim to the binding to help hold it in place.
